
William (Willy) Geary was named director, midbody assembly for Boeing South Carolina
in July 2010. In this role he oversees and manages the integration and assembly
of the 787 midbody, including production test and exterior paint, as well as the
paint and shipment of the 47/48 aft section produced at the South Carolina site.
From June 2007 until his current appointment, Geary was general manager of Boeing
Canada Operations in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was responsible for leading Canada's
largest aerospace composite manufacturer — the country's third largest aerospace
facility.
Geary held positions in Boeing Commercial Airplanes, including Final Assembly manufacturing
superintendent for the 737 program, chief engineer for 737 Interiors, director of
737, 757 and 747 Production Engineering, and various management assignments in Engineering
and Tooling.
Geary is Boeing's executive focal to Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash., and serves
on the University's board of regents. In 2008, Geary received the Distinguished
Alumni Merit Award from Gonzaga University.
In 2008, Geary was inducted as a Fellow with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers
(SME). He is a past president and served on the organization's international board
of directors. In 1990, he was awarded the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer
of the Year.
He has served as a management participant in Boeing labor relations at the 2002
and 2005 main table negotiations with the Society of Professional Engineering Employees
in Aerospace (SPEEA) and on the SPEEA/Boeing Ed Wells Partnership leadership team.
Geary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Gonzaga
University and is a graduate of the University of Washington's Management Program.
